Uganda: Science Teachers Get Computer Skills

Mukono — CYBER School Technology Solutions, a multinational computer company, has facilitated the government's new science-teaching policy by training secondary school science teachers in computer skills.

The company Business Development Manager, Mr Denis Walusimbi, said their commitment to train teachers in information communication technology will help the government achieve her policy of emphasising science subjects in schools.

"Science subjects are poorly done in schools because of the abstract concepts which teachers cannot explain, yet those [techers] who can are very few," Walusimbi said.

"Now we have transformed the secondary school science curriculum into digital form to make science easy to teach and learn."

Walusimbi was recently speaking at the closure of a one week training workshop titled Join Cyber in Digital Learning World, held in Mukono.

Ninety teachers from 15 central districts attended the workshop.

Walusimbi said they will extend the digital service to the primary school curriculum next year.
