Alamata — Over 3,000 hectares of natural forest has been designated in Alamata Woreda, Southern Zone of the Tigray State, the Woreda Agriculture and Rural Development Office said.
Office Head Gebre-Medihin Tesfaye told ENA that the forest was kept from human intervention following the fruitful outcomes shown in earlier pilot projects.
He said various soil and water conservation activities valued at 15.5 million birr have also been carried out at 15 rural localities under an on-going safety-net programme.
Following the various soil and water conservation activities it was possible to replenish denuded areas.
