Uganda: Government Health Insurance Scheme in Trouble

Kampala — THE planned National Social Health Insurance Scheme faces a difficult take-off following harsh criticism from major stakeholders who described it as a total waste aimed at increasing the already high cost of doing business in the country.

The stinging remarks come amid reports that the Cabinet has already approved the law introducing the scheme, in which employees will fork out a mandatory 4 per cent of their gross salary to the scheme.
