Mali: Zone II Games in Mali

The first-ever Zone II Championship games to be staged by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ZANOCA) will be held in Bamako, Mali from December 23 to 29, 2006, a press release from the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) revealed.

According to the release, the games will be in 6 forms; namely athletics, boxing, football, judo, teakwood and wrestling for the cadet levels only (U17).

The release added: "The purpose of the games is to select the zonal champion in each category and to identity potential athletes who may benefit from further training and exposure in preparation for the 2010 Olympic Games. The associations whose sports are in the games are hereby invited to prepare their teams for these important games. Arrangements are being also made by the organising committee to transport the delegates to and from Mali in addition to local transportation, and boarding."
