Eritrea: Peace Agreement Would Make Due Contribution in Enhancing Eritrean-Sudanese Relations, Says Eritrean Foreign Ministry Official

Asmara — Ambassador Mohammed Omar Mahmoud, Head of the Middle East and North Africa Desk in the Eritrean Foreign Ministry, said that the peace agreement reached between the Sudanese Government of National Unity and the East Sudan Front would make due contribution in enhancing Eritrean-Sudanese relations and constitutes a successful outcome of Eritrea's policy. He also stated that the agreement would strengthen Eritrea's role in the region.

The official made the remarks in an interview with the Eritrean media outlets. Ambassador Mohammed Omar Mahmoud stated that the confidence which the delegations of the Sudanese government and the East Sudan Front had placed in the mediator was a significant factor for the success of the peace dialogue.

He further expressed conviction that the agreement reached would be effectively implemented as it was reached with mutual satisfaction of both sides.
