Namibia: Schools in Swakopmund Battle It Out in Table Tennis

SWAKOPMUND recently was the venue of a schools' table tennis tournament in which 10 schools participated.

The players came from schools in Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and Rehoboth.

The tournament has been sponsored by First National Bank since 1993.

This year, the team from the Namib High School in Swakopmund, which consisted of Marchello Britz, Craigen Bester and Amakholi Wilneumann, took the top honours.

The runners-up were Lukonga Apuleni, Clyde Besser and Quinton Ouseb, who are all from the Westside High School, also in Swakopmund.

The Reho Club team of Allistair Baron, Hughan Cloete and Clemento Jansen had to be satisfied with the third spot.

In fourth place was Dr Lemmer High School (Rehoboth A), fifth was Westside High School (Swakopmund B), while Hermann Gmeiner Technical School (Swakopmund A) came sixth.

The Namib High School (Swakopmund B) was seventh, while Kuisebmond Secondary School (Walvis Bay A) and the same school in the Walvis Bay A category came eight and ninth respectively.

Herman Gmeiner Technical School (Swakopmund B) took the tenth spot.
