Woldiya — Education service coverage in North Wollo Zone of Amhara State has grown following the construction of 48 schools last year, the zonal education department said.
Department head Gubena Birru told ENA that the schools have already enrolled over 41,000 new students.
The number of students has reached over 228,990, he said, adding, efforts were underway to increase the number to 300,000, which is expected to bring the education service coverage up to 100 per cent.
There are five preparatory, 15 secondary and 489 primary schools including the ones constructed last year in the zone.
He said 162 alternative basic education centres, which have a capacity to enroll 15,000 children, have been constructed with a view to enabling rural children get access to education service.
