Ethiopia: Indian Cultural Troupe Arrives Here

Addis Ababa — Rang Bahar, a renowned fine arts academy hailing from the City of Ahmedabad in Gujarat State of India, arrived here Thursday to stage folk dance performances.

The visit of Rang Bahar is part of the Cultural Exchange Programmes agreement signed between India and Ethiopia.

At a press conference organized in connection with the visit of the Rang Bahar, Indian Ambassador Gurjit Singh said that the visit of the 10-member cultural troupe would further strengthen the long-standing cultural relations between the two sisterly countries.

The troupe would present its performances in Addis Ababa as well as Adigrat and Makalle towns for the benefit of the UNMEE troops keeping vigil in the Temporary Security Zone between Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Rang Bahar Director and Team Leader Rajendrakumar Dahyalal Bhagat said on the occasion that the troupe would present similar performances in Djibouti.

The troupe would stage the first performance at Sheraton Addis late Tuesday.

Rang Bahar, which was established in 1956 as a performing arts society, is providing highly-specialized training on dance, music, drama and other forms of fine arts.
