Lagos — DETERMINED to change the economic horizon of Imo Stae, the government has signed a US$500 contract with some Chinese businessmen for the execution of a China Town project in the state.
The State Governor, Chief Achike Udenwa announced this development to journalists, at the Sam Mbakwe Airport on his return from a two week working tour of the Republic of China.
He said that the project which is expected to be the biggest model in Africa, would change the economic face of the state and the nation by extension.
Udenwa, who said he had successful and fruitful talks with the Chinese businessmen on their proposal to establish a free trade zone in the state, disclosed that the project might be the economic lift the state had been waiting for.
He explained that the first phase of the project was expected to take off soon, and praised the people of Ngo-Okpala for providing the needed land.
He, however urged the entire state to work hard to make the project a reality as according to him, it was for posterity.
He also directed relevant ministries to inspect the allocated area before the expected visit of the Chinese partners.
Commenting on the recent happenings in Ekiti State, he maintained that the impeachment instument was not a frivolous one and that it should be used with utmost care.
Gov. Udenwa wondered if the impeachment would in the end solve problems instead of creating some.
Also speaking at the airport reception for the governor, his deputy, Mr. Ebere Udeagu, an engineer said that the state had been calm and stable while reiterating the executives unflinching loyalty to the governor.
