Kampala — Mobile laboratories were created in most schools for science practical O'leve examinations.
The secretary of the uganda National examination Board (UNEB), Matthew Bukenya, said this was the first time that all O'level candidates were being examined in all science subjects.
A total of 172,746 O'level candidates completed the science practical examinations last week.
"After the government's campaign of promoting science subjects, we thought the classrooms and laboratory equipment would not be enough for all the candidates countrywide. But mobile laboratories were created in most schools and the chemistry practical exam and others were completed smoothly countrywide," Bukenya said.
In bid to promote science subjects, the government announced that all science subjects become compulsory at O'level.
Bukenya said all examination papers reached UNEB centres in time.
"In the past, we had some examination papers reaching the centres late, especially for schools in rural areas. UNEB has over 1,800 centres, but this time, the process is running quite smoothly," he added.
Bukenya commended their candidates for the good conduct during the examinations period.
