Benin: World Bank Provides Additional Support for Poverty Reduction

Washington, D.C. — The World Bank Board of Executive Directors approved today an International Development Association (IDA) credit  of US$30 million for the Third Poverty Reduction Support Credit (PRSC-3), which provides additional support to ongoing economic growth and governance efforts in Benin, while placing particular emphasis on private sector development and civil service reform.

The Poverty Reduction Strategy Credits (PRSCs) aim to support of Benin's Poverty Reduction Strategy and to strengthen the government's capacity to design and carry out its own development and poverty reduction programs. Broadly, PRSCs focus on policies and reforms with the highest poverty impact.
