South Africa: Koeberg Shutdown 'No Threat to Cape'

Johannesburg — ONE of Eskom's nuclear power plant units shut down yet again yesterday, raising fears that Cape Town could once again experience costly blackouts.

The minerals and energy department said last week that power cuts, caused mainly by lack of infrastructure maintenance, cost SA R2,6bn to R8bn a year.
