Uganda: Country Earns $3.6 Million From Petroleum Taxes in September

Nairobi — The Uganda Revenue Authority duty collection from petroleum products for the month of September was 20 per cent above target, at Ush6.7 billion ($3.6 million), courtesy of increased demand for fuel to generate thermal power.

This makes duty from petroleum products the second largest tax item after the international trade taxes in the current financial year. The international trade taxes collection was Ush299.9 billion ($162 million) representing a growth of 11 per cent compared with the September 2005 collection, and was an on-target performance for the month.
