Mozambique: Guebuza Criticizes "Sensationalist" Media

Quelimane — Mozambican President Armando Guebuza on Friday attacked those sectors of the Mozambican press who prefer slander and sensationalism to reporting the news.

Giving the report from the outgoing Central Committee to the Ninth Congress of the ruling Frelimo Party, under way in the central city of Quelimane, Guebuza praised the media in general for its "crucial role in ensuring the participation of all social sectors in an open debate on the major matters of our national life".
