Kampala — T'S been a long time coming, but finally, Chagga's second album is with us.
Titled Omutima Gwange, Chagga will officially launch the six-track project today at Steak Out Bar and Restaurant on Lumumba Avenue, Kampala.
The launch will kick off at 8:00pm and revelers will part with an entrance fee of sh10,000. There will be another concert at Gaba Beach on Sunday, November 19 for sh5,000.
Queued up to perform are singers Bobi Wine, Juliana Kanyomozi, Irene Namubiru, Bella, Priscilla Kalibala, Desire Luzinda, Buchaman, Ngoni, Benon & Vampos, Mesach Semakula, Orlando, Abdul Mulaasi, Mega Dee, Obsessions and Sweet Kid.
After over six years of backing up Chameleone, the soulful-voiced singer believes he has reinvented himself.
"I am a new Chagga now. From Yono to Birungi to Jangu Eno Maama and now Omutima Gwange, the public can objectively tell where I'm heading," he says.
The album opens with the funky up-tempo Omutima Gwange, which begins with high, whining strings and an echoing guitar riff. In the song, he talks of a lady who has undeniably stolen his heart.
Kiba Kibi is another standout track that contends strongly for the honors of the best cut on the album. Kiba Kibi has tightly knit vocal harmonies.
The song rants at lovers who take long without seeing each other. Priscilla Kalibala lends her smooth vocals to Nze Akwagala. Other tracks include Sikiraba and Waligwa.
