Kenya: Minister Calls for Repeal of Secrets Act

Nairobi — Information and Communication assistant minister Mr Koigi Wamwere has called for the repeal of the Official Secrets Act.

Wamwere said the Act made it difficult for the public to access information from public offices. Wamwere spoke at a Mombasa hotel where he opened a five-day workshop on campaign for access to information in Kenya. The International Commission of Jurists-Kenya (ICJ), Article 19 and Fahamu-Kenya organised the workshop.
