Lagos — The practice of democracy in Nigeria has become one great opportunity for Nigerians to imbibe a new set of rules pertaining to the choices and decisions leading to the election of new leaders. Of particular interest has been the unusual specter of witnessing our parties conduct this sacred duty of electing new leaders from amongst themselves.

One particular state that has leapt into the consciousness of Nigerians "not for any special achievements, "is Bayelsa. Since the impeachment of its first civilian governor, Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha over money laundering charges, Bayelsa has invaded our mental and visual space in a rather intriguing way.
