Cameroon: Warm Welcome for IFAD President

He was received at the airport by the Minister of State, Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development.

The President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, Lennart Bage arrived in the country yesterday for a five-day working visit. The IFAD president was received at the Nsimalen international airport by the Minister of State, Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Jean Nkuete in the company of Cameroon's ambassador to Italy, Michael Kima Tabong, the IFAD Director for West and Central Africa, Mohamed Beavojui and the country Programme Manager, Abdul Barry.

The IFAD President, who is visiting Cameroon for the first time, says he is here to see IFAD sponsored projects and hold talks with government officials. Today Lennart Bage is scheduled to be at the Ministries of External Relations, Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industry, Agriculture, the Economy and Finance as well as hold a working session with technical staff of these ministries. On Wednesday, he will visit IFAD sponsored projects in the Lekie Division, some top officials in the country before holding a press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Lennart Bage leaves the country on Friday December 1, 2006.
