Nairobi — Men, money, and mobility may have been among the main drivers of the HIV/Aids epidemic in its early days, but now poverty, widespread in Africa, has increasingly become one of the major risk factors.

Although we have known for the past 20 years the cause of HIV infection and how it is spread, we are only now beginning to understand what fuels the epidemic.
