Nairobi — An incident in Nairobi on Monday in which a City Council guard was lynched by hawkers rekindles the cruel memories of the mayhem often caused by the traders whenever evicted from the town centre.
In the latest episode, the askari was removed from a council vehicle and hacked to death like a common criminal. Apparently, the hawkers had seen in him a hindrance to their work, ostensibly because of his diligence.
