Eritrea: Djiboutian Intellectuals Say No Somali Wants the Presence of the Ethiopian Invading Army

19 December 2006

Asmara — Two Djiboutian intellectuals concerned with the Somali issue disclosed that no Somali national wants the presence of the Ethiopian invading army in sovereign Somali territory.

Mr. Awed Dawed Mohammed and Mr. Jemal Ahmed Dini told ERI-TV in an interview that Ethiopian regimes are historical enemies of the Somali people and that there is no Somali national who would accept the assistance of the Meles regime let alone its invasion.

They further indicated that the Meles' rule has amply demonstrated that the regime has the habit of aggression and provocation. They went on to say that its forceful occupation and posing as a dominant force which is of no use to the US itself would expose Ethiopia to further instability.

The Djiboutian intellectuals stated that the federal system the Meles regime had introduced is a ploy designed to exploit the resources and potentials of the Ethiopian people for its own benefit and consequently religious and ethnic clashes are being witnessed in the country.
