Mogadishu — The government of Djibouti has angrily reacted to the speech delivered by Premier Ali Gedi to the Somali transitional parliament based in Baidoa on Monday.

Gedi laid blame on Djibouti, Sudan and Eritrea for encumbering the deployment of regional peacekeeping forces to Somalia.

According to Asharqalawsat, A Djibouti official has pointed out that Prime Minister Gedi's accusations were baseless, indicating his government was unhappy to hear such charges from a senior official of the transitional government, seated in Baidoa, southern Somalia.

The official said Djibouti was impartial in Somalia's internal affairs, stating that it was always committed to mediating the competing parties in Somalia.

He said, "Djibouti believes bringing more foreign peacekeepers in Somalia could only make the aggravating situation is Somalia worse".

The reaction came as fierce fighting has broken out near the government base of Baidoa Wednesday.
