Eritrea: Central Region - 100,000 Bicycle Plate Numbers And Registration Book Made Ready

Asmara — As part of the efforts being made to reduce road accidents and avoid the negative consequences, a 100,000 bicycle plate numbers and registration books have been made ready in the Central region. Reports indicated that statistical date collection and preliminary research has begun in the other administrative regions.

According to the new country's traffic law, all bicycles would have to be appropriately registered and have plate numbers while those that are not would be considered illegal ones.

In view of the fact that most accidents are caused by cyclists with lack of awareness of traffic laws, the new traffic law that comprises 12 articles stipulates strict penalty to violators.
