The Court of Appeal Yesterday Stopped the Nigeria Labour Congress From Proceeding On Strike. the Union Had Said It Was Embarking On an Industrial Action to Protest Government Policies. the Court Held That the NLC Lacked the Power to Call Out Students, Market Women And Workers to Protest Against Increment in the Prices of Petroleum Products.
Giving judgment, three justices of the court of appeal upheld a previous judgment of the chief judge of the Federal High Court, Mrs. Roseline Ukeje, that increment in petroleum prices was not a trade dispute that could cause workers to go on strike.
