Osogbo — No fewer than 14 people, including a two months old baby, were killed yesterday morning, in a ghastly motor accidents which occured between Ife and Osogbo road.
The accident, which left about 16 other passengers badly burnt, also killed a nursing mother whose two months old baby was said to be sucking breast before they met their untimely deaths.
The two vehicles, Toyota Corola panel van with Registration No Osun AE 610 EDE and Toyota Liteace with No XA 247 FNN had head-on collission.
According to an eye witness, Mr Morufu Olasupo, the accident occured as a result of over speeding by the two commercial drivers.
He said the Toyota Corola driver was loaded with bread when the accident took place at Agbugbu Village, between Ife and Osogbo.
Already, the burnt passengers had been taken to Ladoke Akintola University College Hospital for medical attention, while the dead were deposited at its morgue. Commenting on the accident, Acting Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr oke Peter, said overloading by the commercial bus caused the accident.
He said the commercial bus driver who died instantly, carried 26, instead of 10 passengers.
The acting commander however appealed to motorists to always drive according to the traffic regulations.
He equally urged them not to carry fuel inside their car whenever they are on the highway. As at the time of the accident about N13,000 was recovered by FRSC.
