Nigeria: Ki-Moon Considers Okonjo-Iweala, Others for UN No. 2 Job

Lagos — Newly installed Secretary-General of the United Nation's, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, is considering Nigeria's former Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, from a lsit of four third world women technocrats, for appointment as deputy secretary-general of the organisation, Timesonline news report said yesterday.

Also being considered by Ki-Moon for the same job are Rima Khalaf, a Jordanian behind the UN's Arab development reports, Fayza Abulnaga, an Egyptian minister and Thoraya Obaid, head of the UN Population Fund (UNPF).
