Rusizi — The fighting between Congolese rebels and Government forces has displaced thousands of people in Fataki village, in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). According to businessmen from Rusizi District, the security situation is worrying to many businessmen and hindered trade between the two peoples along the borders.
The source added that violence in the region began on Tuesday January 2, after a New Year's ceasefire between militias reluctant to join the country's ongoing demobilization process, and the army units posted in the area.
