Mbanza Kongo — The Angolan Minister of Culture, Boaventura Cardoso considered on Monday in Mbanza Kongo city, northern Zaire province, the organising and management of archives as fundamental for the preserving of the country's documental heritage.
Boaventura Cardoso made these declarations at the opening of regional seminars on the Organisation and Management of Archives and, Cultural Activism part of the January 08 activities, National Culture Day, which the central act happened in Mbanza Kongo.
The government official recognised that in Zaire province there is a large documental heritage that needs special attention, a reason that his institution decided to hold, in this region, the referred seminars that also count on the participation of representatives of Cabinda and of Uíge provinces.
Relating to cultural activism, Boaventura Cardoso defends that it should cover more the fields of literature, plastic arts, the preserving of heritage and without being limited to music, dance and theatre.
Finally the official guaranteed that the training of cultural agents will continue and will cover the country's 18 provinces, for the upgrading of cadres.
Lasting for four days, the seminar is being attended by staff of the local culture sector, cultural agents and members of various carnival groups of the province.
