Uganda: 20 Students Injured in Scholarships Stampede

Gulu — More than 20 students were on Monday morning injured in a stampede while trying to get forms to apply for scholarships.

The students, from various districts in the north, had gathered at the gate of Windle Trust, an NGO that sponsors students among other forms of assistance.

Daily Monitor learnt that after getting wind of the availability of scholarships, more than 1000 needy orphaned students from mainly Kitgum, Gulu and Pader districts flocked the gate of Windle Trust to obtain the forms to apply for the scholarships.

Many children broke their limbs while others sustained fractures and sprains. Some of them were rushed to Gulu referral hospital while others were taken to Lacor hospital.
