Lagos — Former Governor of Oyo State, Dr Omololu Olunloyo, yesterday lamented the politicalitical logjam which has impaired legislative functions in the state house of assembly calling for the quick intervention of the National Assembly.
Last week, the Federal House of Representatives threatened to take over the legislative functions in Oyo state.
While supporting the move of the federal lawmakers, Olunloyo bemoaned the political crisis in the state lamenting that the governmental and legislative activities have grounded to a halt in the state.
The former governor who spoke in Lagos at a dinner organized to support the aspiration of Mrs. Folake Olunloyo Oshinnowo into the federal house of representative representing Ibadan North west and North East Constituency In Oyo state, said any intervention that will make things move forward in the state would be welcome by the people.
Said he " People are tired of this crisis and it is unfortunate that those responsible for the crisis refused to yield to the advice of the stakeholders, while it may be true that Adedibu is unforgiving but Ladoja is very stubbon for the past three years I have been advising him on the need to thread softly and make peace with everybody but he has refused my advice and so the trouble continues , what we need now is peace and not war in Oyo State; we have had enough of political crisis we need to move forward".
Also the Alliance for Democracy (AD in Oyo State has called for the stoppage of the salaries and allowances of the members of the house of assembly. According to the publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Alesinloye, 'it is now obvious that the ruling party cannot in anyway alleviate the suffering of our people. We had said this before the illegal impeachment of Ladoja that he was not capable of ruling the state because he was a rubber stamp of his political godfather, Chief Lamidi Adedibu".
He stated that the struggle by the press and pro-democracy groups to return Ladoja to office was not due to the governor's credentials but to help democracy and the rule of law to survive ".
He said that the performance of the lawmakers had shown that the welfare of the people of the State was not really paramount to the legislators, the AD said that the legislators had allowed the crisis beyond reasonable extent.
