Rwanda: Sudan Envoy Commends RDF in Darfur

Kigali — The Sudan Ambassador to Rwanda, Hassan Ibrahim Gadkarim has lauded the performance of the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) deployed in the troubled Sudan region of Darfur. Gadkarim said that because of the successful mission of the Rwandan peace keepers the Sudan government has refused to allow UN-backed peace keeping forces. "The government is wary of the bad conduct of many UN peace missions with accusations of rape and embezzlement in other areas they operate like Juba." Under the auspices of the African Union, Rwanda has over two thousand peace keeping troops in Darfur," Gadkarim, who also is also accredited to Burundi and Uganda, said yesterday.

He added: "The conduct of Rwanda Defence Forces in Darfur is exemplary and Rwandans should be proud of them."
