Nigeria: IBA Condemns US Intimidation of Guantanamo Lawyers

Lagos — The International Bar Association (IBA)'s Human Rights Institute has expressed grave concern over recent comments made by Charles D Stimson, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Detainee Affairs at the United States Department of Defense, which encouraged US companies to refrain from using the legal services of law firms involved in representing Guantanamo Bay detainees.

Mr. Stimson was said to have made the remarks during a radio interview with Federal News Radio, a Washington-based station.
