Nigeria: NBL Builds N75m Town Hall

Enugu — Nigerain Breweries PLC has commissioned a town hall and borehole for Umuezea in Ameke-Ngwo in Udi Local Government of Enugu, as part of its contributions to the development of the community.

Managing Director of the NB plc, Mr. Paul Hamers, at the commission ceremony said that the projects were part of the company's efforts to support the development aspirations of the Umuezeani community.

"I feel fulfilled because we have largely kept the faith with that promise, of which today's event is only a part. The provision of portable water is very essential in any community. It was in realization of this that we embarked on the community water scheme for Umuezeani to address the perennial water problem in the community. The Civic Center is linked to the borehole for regular water supply and has adequate storage tanks and water pump for proper reticulation", he said.

He said that the company would always continue to contribute in what will be in the interest of the well being of the people, adding that there has been a cordial relationship existing between the company and the community.

Hamers said that NBL would continue to consolidate her premier position in the industry, adding that the projects were significant to the value the company attached to the lives of the citizens.

He disclosed that the projects were handled by experts in the various fields of engineering, explaining that the organization would continue to empahsise quality to serve the people better.

Chairman of the community, Ikenge Peter Ozoike, in his speech commended the NBL for the projects, adding that the people of his community would continue to pray for the company's growth in return for the projects.

Ozoike however appealed for an alternative power supply for the projects explaining that the power supply now in use by the community is overloaded and cannot carry the projects.
