Africa: Bush Calls for Bipartisan Support of Ambitious Agenda

Washington, DC — President Bush, speaking to a meeting of Democratic members of the House of Representatives in Williamsburg , Virginia, February 3, called upon Congress to join his administration in tackling some of the biggest international and domestic and challenges facing the nation today.

On Iraq, Bush acknowledged many in the Democratic Party did not support aspects of his administration's policy, but asserted that they all agreed on the need to help the Iraqi government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki succeed in its commitments to increased security as well as economic and political reform.
