Uganda: Bakayimbira Dramactors Lose Their Pride Home

Kampala — AFTER 26 years, the popular Bakayimbira Dramactors are out of their "home" at Pride Theatre, Namirembe Road. Managing director Andrew Benon Kibuuka, said they were forced to leave the premises following rental increment by landlords, Lohana Community, from $1,300 (about sh2.3m) to a $3,500 (about sh6.1m) per month.

"We have been planning to build our own theatre along Entebbe Road. How are we going to achieve this when we are paying such high rent?" Kibuuka wondered.

The drama group acquired a piece of land two year's ago and plans to build an entertainment centre on it.
