Nairobi — A rift has emerged within the Tanzania business community on whether the country should rejoin the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa), which it quit in 2001.
The controversy, which apparently arouses strong feelings within the business community, has members of the influential Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI), the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF), Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (TCCIA), and Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC) divided right down the middle.
