Over the last couple of weeks, tomato growers in the Upper East Region of the country have been drawing attention to a threat to their survival, following a bumper harvest they have had from the fruits of their labour.
The farmers' complaints border on the age-old problem associated with their yearly bumper harvest - ready market for their perishable produce. The absence of a ready market often compels the farmers to sell their produce at ridiculously low prices so as to prevent them from getting rotten.
