Kigali — The third edition of the annual Rwanda Film Festival has begun. The event, an initiative of the Rwanda Cinema Centre (RCC), is an exposure of a variety of feature and documentary films from the African continent and the world to the Rwandan audience. The Director of RCC, Erick Kabera, told The Sunday Times that, "These are the films that show us pictures of humanity through the eyes of independent filmmakers concerned with the improvement of humankind through cultural exchange and mutual understanding."
Kabera noted that the initiative aspires to circulate positive and optimistic stories among the Rwandan community from all over the world exposing the country to other realities.
"The objective of the festival is to get the audiovisual entertainment and education for the citizens of Kigali," he said.
Kabera also said that the Rwanda Hillywood Programme will be characterized by mobile screenings in rural areas.
Different films will be screened freely in various town centers and according to the Director these will include preferred films by the annual Rwanda Film Festival.
