Ghana: TUC Urges Government to Open EPA Negotiation to Public Debate

Accra — The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has said that the efforts by the government to enter into Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the European Union (EU) will have serious consequences on the domestic market and also have a heavy toll on the economy.

The TUC said the ongoing EPA negotiations have centred on three main issues namely; market access liberalization, service sector liberalization and investment competition and government procurement, which are the lifeblood of every economy. The TUC therefore urged the government to put the EPA on the table for public debate before major any decisions are taken.
