Gambia: Mawlud Nabi - the Birth of the Prophet

Our topic today is on the last and greatest of the Prophets, Mohammad (SAWS).

The scholars who discussed the life of Prophet Mohammad said he was born on 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal on a Monday. Mahmoud Basha, an astronaut, said the prophet's birthday corresponds to April 20, 571 AD. It was during that time that the elephants entered the Kaaba, destroying it with Abraha as explained in Sura Al-Fil (the elephants). When Prophet Mohammad (SAWS) celebrated his birthday, he used to fast on Mondays, and when asked why, he said it was the day he was born and the Holy Quran was also given to him.
