Tanzania: Gomes Re-Elected 2007 Golf Captain

Arusha — The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Arusha Gymkhana Club Golf Section held on March 27 unanimously re-elected Richard Gomes as Golf Captain

Mr. Andy Dale was elected Vice Captain and Secretary replacing the long serving Vice Captain, Mr. Philip Wambugu who retired after serving two terms as per the Club Bylaws. Mr. Wambugu was however retained as a Golf Committee Member.

The Honorary Treasurer's position went to Ms. June Ifill who replaced Mr. Haja Modhwadia who retired after serving one term. Col (rtd) S. Kaaya was reelected to the position of Green Keeper while Mr. Tony Schwaller was elected the assistant Green Keeper.

Mr. Peter Barnard was elected the Competitions Manager succeeding Mr. Andy Dale while Simon Trevors was elected the Handicaps Secretary.

Those retained as Committee Members were Beatus Kasegenya, Mike Shirima, Ajmer Jandu, and Amir Somji.

Congratulating those elected to the Management Committee, the Chairman called on them to uphold the dignity of golf and to recruit more players particularly the youth in order to take the game at Gymkhana Club to a higher level.

He noted that the Club hand initiated a children golf clinic every Saturday morning conducted by professional golfer Olais Mollel and Martin Dzuwa and called on parents to take advantage of the clinic to have their little ones coached on how to play golf.
