Harare — THE League of Exclusive Gentlemen, the outfit that is jointly bringing the Sista Bethina Zimbabwean Tour with Simmad yesterday maintained that the Easter shows were still on.
Simba Madziwa of Simmad Entertainment told The Herald this week that he had cancelled the shows because of a row over the song Sista Bethina by Mgarimbe who popularised the song and DJ Big T.
He also said that the South African promoter was changing goal posts and asking for more money.
According to Norman Mpofu the LXG manager three South African artistes -- DJ Casa Blanca, DJ Tenny Tee and musician Costa who is popular with songs such as Naja, Voroso and Ndiya among others -- were coming for the shows.
Major Playaz and Mafriq will support them.
"We were organising the shows together. Simmad pulled out because he was afraid of stay-aways and could not meet his end of the contract. As LXG we have a show with the musicians today and Simmad was supposed to host them tomorrow before DJ Scott took them to Gweru and then Bulawayo.
"Now that Simmad has pulled off, Stars Studio will still host them today and then tomorrow they will play in Gweru in the afternoon and then in Bulawayo in the evening of the same day before they move to Mutare on Saturday," said Mpofu.
Mpofu admitted that there was a row over the song Sista Bethina but that was a long time ago.
He also said in South Africa DJs can compile albums which they claim as theirs even if there would not have sang a single song.
Madziwa on the other hand, yesterday denied that he had organised the shows in partnership with other people.
"I cancelled my shows as Simmad. I didn't know there were people who were organising their shows involving the same musicians. However, I have no problem with that so they can go ahead and hold the shows.
He went on to say that he didn't have any partners and that is why his adverts carried the name Simmad only.
"I do not have any partners. I operate as Simmad Entertainment and that is why I was advertising the shows as Simmad.
"I got a police clearance and National Arts Council of Zimbabwe permission as Simmad. My adverts never mentioned a second person. So when I cancel I do so as Simmad.
"These people who want to benefit from my advertising feel prejudiced now that I have cancelled the show," he said adding that mentioning other people's names was malicious.
"I did not mention anybody's name when I spoke to you yesterday. But when those people come in and mention my name, it's malicious."
