South Africa: Police Want Communities to Define Safety Interventions

Pretoria — Following a meeting between President Thabo Mbeki and the Big Business Working Group Wednesday, Minister of Safety and Security Charles Nqakula highlighted the importance of community involvement in policing.

The minister is to meet all provincial safety MECs next weekend to discuss how this can be done countrywide with the involvement of ordinary people.
