Nairobi — World record holder, Paul Tergat, said the London Marathon race in which he finished sixth on Sunday was tough. Speaking to SportFest from London on telephone, Tergat, who was among the favourites, also said he suffered a stitch with two kilometres to finish, which slowed him down. "The race was very tough and anyone among the leaders would have won. It all depended on one's mental and physical fitness especially at 41km mark," he said.
In this case, he said, Martin Lel proved strong and went on to win. Lel won the race in 2:07:41 with Morocco's Abderrahim Goumri second (2:07:44) and Felix Limo, the winner last year, third in 2:07:47.
