Botswana: Legal Status of Air Botswana Privatization

Dr Athaliah Molokomme, the Attorney General shares this statement with the nation as her opinion provided to the Government, as its Principal Legal Adviser, regarding the legal status of the negotiations on the privatization of Air Botswana.

"This matter raises important issues which go beyond the privatization of Air Botswana, to the core of our constitutional dispensation. Specifically, it raises the question of the role and relationship between the three branches of government: the Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary. This relationship should be fully understood and respected by all if we are to maintain a healthy, stable and effective democracy.
