Zimbabwe: UNDP Probes Diamond Smuggling Allegations

Harare — THE United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), anxious to avoid having its corporate governance record tarnished, is pressing ahead with investigations to establish whether its Zimbabwe office facilitated the smuggling of diamonds.

UNDP's quest to get to the bottom of the allegations despite denials by its local office raises more questions on the goings-on at a Beitbridge mine that is at the centre of a protracted ownership dispute.
