South Africa: Argus Writer Wins Top Prize

Cape Town — Cape Argus rugby writer Dale Granger, won the award for Sports News Reporter of the Year at the annual sports journalist awards in Johannesburg last night.

Granger led the field in his news reporting on rugby, covering issues such as Jake White's future as Springbok coach, the ill-fated saga regarding the Spears, and the off-field problems that beset the Springboks on their Tri-Nations campaign last year. Sports Journalist of the Year was photographer Ettienne Rothbart, from the Cape Argus's sister paper The Star.
