Nairobi — World Cross Country Champion Lornah Kiplagat has shelved her plans to attempt the 5,000 metres world record during the Hengelo IAAF Permit Meet in the Netherlands on Saturday after failing to get a morning flight yesterday from Nairobi.
Kiplagat, who is due to fly out today after turning down an offer for a night flight from Kenya Airways, said the race was her last before the IAAF World Championships in Athletics and she had prepared for three months for the world record, her first attempt on the track since breaking the world road racing standard in Debrecen, Hungary, last year.
