Kampala — UGANDAN visual artists have come up with a creative way of making the world know about them and their trade. This will be at the first ever Kampala street-art festival.
The event, jointly organised by the German Cultural Society, the Uganda Artists' Association and Alliance Française, will be held on Sunday, from 11:00am to 6:00pm, at the Uganda Artists Association premises in Kamwokya.
According to the organisers, different artists will join the community to fill potholes on Bukoto Street in Kampala, under what they have called 'Pot in the hole'.
The artists will also do artwork on the potholes, which they will auction. This will be followed by an auction of the furniture painted by artists for the Modern Art Museum.
"Part of Bukoto Street will be closed. The aim of this event, is to arouse the interest of the public in art and to show the creativity within art," artists said.
At the same function, artwork from well- known artists will be sold at affordable prices. There will also be performances by artistes.
