Debre Tabor — Over 552,000 bed nets have been distributed among public living in South Gondar Zone of Amhara State with a view to preventing the possible malaria outbreak in the zone following the upcoming main rainy season, the zonal health department said.
Communicable diseases prevention and control coordinator with the department, Alehegn Wube told ENA yesterday that the canopies distributed during the past two months would help to protect over 1.3 million people from the disease.
The coordinator said Carter Centre-Ethiopia, a non-governmental organization, provided over 220,000 of the bed nets while the remaining were secured from the Global Fund.
